Listen To What Our Customers Have to Say

Mrs. Stewart left us this five star Google review:

We had a flood in January, on a very snowy weekend. The crew was there quickly for mitigation. I felt so bad for them trekking up our terrible hill of a driveway but they did it without complaint. The flood covered all 3 floors of our house. The mitigation manager (I feel bad because I can't remember his name) was great about explaining the whole mitigation process and also how it works with insurance and restoration. After the mitigation was down we decided to move forward with their team for restoration. Andrew was the manager and was very communicative with us throughout the whole process. We elected to upgrade our flooring from carpet to vinyl and also repaint a bathroom and upgrade a vanity. He went over how this works with insurance and provided us a very detailed quote. He was great about answering all of our questions. I felt like we always knew when the crew was going to be there. We weren't at the house very much when the crew was there, but when we did cross paths, they were very friendly and informative as to what they would be working on. The crew always left the house clean which is huge. Overall we love the quality of work they provided and would recommend.

Our work speaks for itself.  So when your in need, Call SERVPRO of Washington County at 423-434-0046.

Is Your Home Ready for Winter?

12/8/2021 (Permalink)

Cold weather and winter storms can have a huge impact on your home or business if you are not properly prepared. Whether it is heavy rains and wind, freezing temperatures, sleet or snow, all can cause serious and costly property damage. Take steps to be prepared and help take the sting out of the winter blues.

  • After winter storms check your property for downed tree limbs and branches. Downed limbs can cause damage to your property and lead to possible water damage issues.
  • Roofs, water pipes and gutters should all be inspected to ensure they are in proper order. Gutters should be clear of debris and directed away from buildings. Leaves and other obstructions can cause a damming effect, which can lead to roof damage and interior water problems.
  • Inspect property for proper drainage to alleviate flood hazard potential.
  • Inspect all handrails, stairs, and entryways to address and correct potential slippery or hazardous areas. Install mats or non-slip surfaces and post cautions signs.
  • Protect water pipes from freezing by simply allowing water to drip when temps fall below freezing. If pipes are under cabinets, leave the cabinet doors open.
  •  Consider turning outdoor faucets off at the main valve. Once shut remember to drain the outdoor faucet.

When winter weather strikes and causes a disaster, call SERVPRO of Washington County at 423-434-0046 to strike back!

Holiday Fire Safety From The Experts

HOLIDAY FIRE SAFETY TIPS

The winter holidays can be the busiest time of year for many households. There are family activities, community events and parties to attend, and you may even be hosting a gathering or two in your own home. Kids are excited, the days are short and there seems to be a never-ending list of things to get done. However, now is not the time to ignore or forget about basic holiday fire safety, which includes Christmas tree fire safety.

CHRISTMAS TREE FIRE SAFETY:

  • Live trees need to be fresh and stay fresh until removed from your home. Look for a tree with needles that pull back easily from the branches but do not break. Tap your tree on the ground. If it sheds a ton of needles, it is not fresh.
  • Keep a freshly cut tree watered so it does not dry out and become a fire hazard or use a potted live tree and plant a memory from this Christmas season to grow for years to come.
  • Never place your Christmas tree near a fireplace, wood burning stove or other open flame.
  • Never place real, burning candles on your Christmas tree as decorations.
  • Christmas trees should not block doorways or exit routes, in case of a fire.
  • Only buy fire-resistant artificial trees.

A few helpful tips from you fire restoration experts at SERVPRO of Washington County to keep your friends, family, pets, and belongings safe this holiday season.  If you find that you have fallen victim to a holiday fire, please call SERVPRO of Washington County 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at 423-434-0046. Identifying and Eliminating Bread Mold

10/6/2020 (Permalink)

Bread mold is disgusting

At best, bread mold is disgusting. At worst, it spreads, creating a hazardous mess best eradicated by a mold cleanup specialist. Prevent this problem from becoming an issue in your house by eliminating compromised loaves the moment they are identified.

Classifications of Mold

Loaves suffering fungus growth contain spores that fall into one of three categories:

1. Penicillium Mold
Look for fuzzy white, light blue or gray colors to identify this type of spore. Believe it or not, some strains are used for flavoring, such as in blue cheese. Other types create… What else? Penicillin.

2. Black Mold
Contrary to popular belief, this common form of bread mold first appears in fuzzy blue or green splotches. Only later does it develop its darker coloration.

3. Cladosporium
This fungal nuisance appears in darkened patches and gives off a noticeable odor that makes identification easy. Avoid prolonged exposure, as cladosporium, like penicillium mold, emits problematic mycotoxins.
While consumption of these types of fungi is unlikely to cause serious injury, avoid doing so to avert unpleasant discomfort.

Disposing of and Avoiding Mold
To properly do away with infected bread, place it in a plastic or paper bag and then deposit it in a trash receptacle equipped with a safety lid. Inspect nearby foods to check that there has not been any spread. Next, thoroughly clean the surrounding area where the moldy item was discovered with a commercial-strength disinfectant.
Although mold thrives in warmer climates, it is still able to grow in the cold. Avoid fridge mold by performing regular cleanings and tossing any half-eaten sandwiches. Dedicate one day a week to performing this task, as just a few minutes of occasional attention may prevent an inconvenient mess from becoming a reality.
When spending time in your kitchen, immediately discard anything suspect and reduce your chances of ever having to deal with bread mold becoming a problem at your home in Johnson City, TN.

Understanding Insurance Coverage for Mold

9/5/2020 (Permalink)

Mold damage in Bowmantown, TN

A commercial insurance package typically includes property coverage. Most property policies pay for damage to your building, signage and landscaping. They may not cover mold damage, though. Here is an overview of what you can expect from the provider that covers your building in Bowmantown, TN, and the additional coverage you may need.

Fungus Exclusions

Most property policies have a fungus exclusion and thus will not automatically cover the issue and related damage:

  • Mold
  • Mildew
  • Dry rot
  • Bacteria

On the other hand, if a fungus leads to specific types of damage, such as leaks or decay that occur as the result of the presence of mold, the services of mold remediation specialists may be covered by your policy. You may also be able to get fungus mitigation if a covered peril results in mold growth.

Limited Fungus Coverage
Some policies include limited fungus coverage. If a specific cause that is covered by your policy leads to mold damage, your commercial insurance may cover remediation costs.
For example, if a pipe freezes and bursts, mold may start to grow before the damage can be fixed. Since the water damage from the pipe is covered, getting rid of the subsequent mold growth may be covered, too.
The remediation process may involve several steps to remove the mold damage and repair the affected area. First, technicians tear out any material that obstructs or contains the fungus infestation. Then they rebuild the structure so that the damage looks "Like it never even happened." Your insurance agent can review your policy and tell you if you have the necessary mold insurance to pay for repairs if a situation such as this occurs.
Your commercial insurance policy probably covers a wide range of property damage. It's important to know if fungus problems are covered before they occur. Armed with this knowledge, you can make a more informed decision about which policies to buy.

The Mold Remediation Process From Start to Finish

8/1/2020 (Permalink)

Mold remediation services in Telford, TN

If you discover black mold in your home in Telford, TN, you are likely to be concerned. After all, mold colonies on the wall or ceiling look unsightly and they produce a musty odor. Furthermore, if mold is allowed to remain it can wear down materials and even cause structural deficiencies in a house. Your best course of action is to call in a professional mold remediation company to clear up the problem. A quality company will work to the highest standards in the cleaning industry and will have the industry certifications desired by your insurance company. The process begins with an inspection and assessment of your home to determine the extent of the mold problem. In many cases, mold can be growing in hidden places that require special techniques to find.

Mold Containment

The next step in the mold cleanup process is containment of the microscopic mold spores. Black mold can easily spread throughout a home, sometimes using the HVAC system to colonize new areas. Mold containment includes some or all of the following steps:

  • The use of negative air chambers
  • The practice of isolation
  • The use of physical barriers
  • The elimination of excess moisture
  • The turning off of the HVAC system and fans

Air filtration equipment is used to suck mold spores out of the impacted rooms. Powerful air scrubbers and HEPA vacuums also prevent the spreading of mold.

Mold Remediation
Depending on the level of damage, the removal of mold-infested materials such as carpeting, clothing, and upholstery may be necessary. Sometimes sections of drywall have to be torn out, especially if a black mold problem has been allowed to linger for a period of time. Surfaces will be cleaned with powerful yet safe disinfectants. The final stages of the process work to eliminate the odors associated with mold and to restore your home to its pre-mold condition. Restoration could be a relatively minor job or it could involve the reconstruction of a room.

What To Expect During a Sewage Damage Restoration

6/17/2020 (Permalink)

Equipment for cleanup in a commercial building

Sewage Damage Restoration

During a sewer cleanup at your Gladstone, TN, place of business, there are a few things you may see the damage restoration service do to ensure the proper cleanup and repair of your business property. Here are three steps that are common for a sewage damage restoration.

1. Damage Assessment

After a sewer backup or flooded toilet, you may contact a restoration team for help. One of the first things you may see them do is a damage assessment. This is done to help the team plan for what cleaning material and equipment needed, as well as insure they know everywhere they should be checking for damage. Once they have a plan they can complete the restoration efficiently.

2. Water Removal and Drying the Space

The next step of a sewer cleanup is often removing the water and drying the space. This step can be done with special pumps, squeegees, and rags. In some cases, a dehumidifier may be used to pull water from the air. The faster the water can be removed and the area dried, the less likely there is to be secondary damages such as mold. If processes such as a tear-out need to occur they be done in the next stage.

3. Cleaning the Area

Because sewage can contain harmful materials such as chemical contaminants or bacteria, it’s important that the affected area is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Fortunately, your local restoration service should have the cleaning solutions needed for the job. One the area has been thoroughly sanitized repairs can begin.

During a sewer cleanup, it’s very likely that the restoration team working on your property will perform a damage assessment first. They can then process with the water removal and drying of the space. Because sewage tends to carry bacteria you should also see the team working on your business property take the time to thoroughly clean the area before repairs are made.

Preventing Mold Growth in Your Home

3/29/2020 (Permalink)

If you suspect mold damage in your Gray, TN home you should contact a professional

Mold in the home is not something anyone wants. Mold most commonly grows in the bathroom and kitchen but can be anywhere in your house. Mold can be several different colors, such as

  • Green
  • Black
  • Brown
  • Orange
  • White

It may have a fuzzy appearance, or it can look splotchy. Black mold, in particular, can be problematic, so it's important to contact your mold remediation experts for mold cleanup. Here are some causes of mold in the home and how to prevent it.

How Mold Grows

Mold needs moisture in order to grow. There are many ways moisture gets released in your home. Everyday things such as taking a hot shower, using a humidifier, cooking and breathing can release moisture. Sometimes, a basement may have a leak and flood when it rains. This can lead to an overwhelming amount of black mold in the basement. In addition, if the roof is getting old, it may be allowing moisture into your home.

How To Prevent Mold

A larger moisture problem, such as a leak in your basement or roof, likely means a professional will have to come in and fix it. However, there are some fixes you can do for everyday moisture issues. Use the fan in your bathroom whenever you take a hot shower. Turn on the vent fan over your stove when you are cooking, pull away the steam that is released. When you use a humidifier, try to only use it when you know the air is dry. Purchasing a hygrometer, which measures the amount of humidity in the room, can tell you when you might consider using a humidifier.
Black mold is not something you want to have in your home. It is caused by excess moisture, such as moisture released during a shower or while cooking. If you suspect a mold problem in your home in Gray, TN, don't hesitate to contact a professional to have it removed.

The Fire Restoration Process by Professionals

Fire damage restoration in Austin Springs, TN

The Fire Restoration Process by Professionals

In a time of a commercial fire, it is best to work with the professionals in Austin Springs, TN. In times of distress, it is comforting to be surrounded by excellence and a team that has a plan for success. A franchise that has been there before will produce the best results and deliver timely fire restoration. Insurance companies and adjusters like to work with experienced technicians, which is why SERVPRO is the preferred company for many agents. A SERVPRO franchise provides a claims inventory service that itemizes losses and expenses and captures it all on Excel documents and in photos.

The Proven Process

Each case of fire restoration is unique, but a well-planned process governs the entire recovery effort. The critical steps include the following actions:

  • Inspection and fire damage assessment
  • Board-up and roof-tarp services, if needed
  • Water removal and drying
  • Smoke and soot removal
  • Cleaning and restoration

In the case of a fire rebuild, the technicians will restore when possible and replace those items that are too damaged. A commercial fire mitigation team has the training to restore the building to its pre-fire condition. The job isn't finished until the final steps have been taken and the insurance company has been notified. Choosing the right team means that all the work is completed by one company.

The Tested Approach

When a fire strikes a business, there's no need to reinvent the wheel when a SERVPRO franchise is nearby. Whether it is rebuilding services or the removal of smoke damage, trained technicians take the lead and restore the building quickly. No portion of the building will be overlooked. If water damage results due to fire fighting efforts, the professionals are familiar with water removal and will look for the potential for mold growth. This is all part of the fire restoration process. The building will look "Like it never even happened".

How Much Does It Cost To Recover From a Building Fire?

After your business has been devastated by fire damage, there's a lot of pressing tasks that all seem to be of the most importance. As the owner or manager of a commercial property, it may be up to you to determine the order of those tasks, and you need to make those decisions quickly. Some of the things on this list include

  • Contacting emergency responders, the insurance company, a landlord, and a commercial fire damage cleanup and restoration company
  • Securing the building, so intruders don't take advantage of damages
  • Making sure that everyone who was in or around the building are safe and that injuries have been treated

While completing these items, you'll also need to get an estimate for the cost of repairs and cleanup efforts.

Get Your Business Operating Again

Fire damage cleanup companies understand that you want to clean up, rebuild, or restore your property as quickly as possible, so you can get back to business. These professionals understand that the longer your business is interrupted, the more costly the interruption will become. Make sure you contact a cleanup and restoration company that provides you with a specific estimate that covers all related costs and details. Be aware that if any companies offer a really low price tag, there's a good chance they haven't disclosed all of the costs.

How Costs Are Determined

There are a number of calculations that professionals make as they determine the cost of cleaning up and repairing a building affected by fire damage. These calculations include the costs of cleaning, repairing, or replacing equipment, structural damages, and furnishings (such as window treatments and carpeting.) 12/2/2019 (Permalink)

Mold can cause serious health risks.

Has your home suffered water damage from a broken pipe, sewer backup or incoming water from a severe storm? You'll have a big cleanup job on your hands. Not only will you be concerned about replacing wet drywall, flooring, furniture and other items, but there's a high chance black mold and other fungi could develop as well. It's important to eliminate mold as soon as possible and find the most effective ways of cleaning it up.
How Mold Forms
If you've got a moisture problem in your Johnson City, TN, house, mold won't be far behind. Mold spores are always present, but they will only grow under the right circumstances. The fungus requires a surface on which to grow, and walls, floors and ceilings are prime candidates. Mold will also thrive in humid, wet conditions. Common places to see it include the following:

Under sinks near leaky pipes
On shower walls
Underneath refrigerators, dishwashers and washers
On carpet following a flood

Will It Disappear on Its Own?
If you have water leakage or flooding problems on your property, you should contact a professional flood cleanup crew immediately. The team will remove any water and thoroughly dry the affected area. However, drying surfaces isn't enough to get rid of mold. Mold will stop growing after the water is removed and dried, but this fungus will not simply vanish just because you have removed the water. Once black mold and other types of mold are present, cleaning and sanitizing the spot is vital.
The Process the Pros Use
After the area is dry, a mold cleanup team will ensure that the fungus isn't spreading. The crew will use air scrubbers and vacuums to eliminate the mold spores. Porous materials, such as drywall and carpet, may not be salvageable, so the team may throw out these items. The company will then thoroughly clean, sanitize and deodorize the area.
Prompt action is necessary if there is black mold in your home. It is helpful to understand these steps and essential to call the pros to help clean up.

Knowing the details of your policy can be important for something like this. Here is some information you may wish to know.

Basic Policies

While the exact nature of your policy depends on your insurance plan, location, and carrier, there are a few things that can be found in most basic homeowner insurance packages. These can include:

  • Fixing a leaking pipe before a major breakage occurs
  • Pipe breakages from an unpreventable accident
  • Subsequent damage to other parts of the home caused by the water
  • Professional services needed to clean, dry and repair damage after a flood

It’s important to know what exactly is in your policy in case you feel extra coverage is necessary.

Additional Policies

An insurance company may provide additional policies for water damage that occur outside the normal events of a home. These usually include natural disasters, such as flood or extreme storms. Damage that occurs from raising water levels is typically considered flooding and is usually covered by these policies.

Special Circumstances

Certain services may not be covered. This is why it’s best to know what’s in your policy and to talk to an insurance professional about the coverage you need. These circumstances could include negligence, such as knowingly failing to fix a broken pipe before it floods, or damage caused by storm or natural flooding, which is usually covered by another policy.

In many cases, insurance coverage can include the damage that occurs after a flood or the services needed to fix a broken pipe. However, it’s best to know what is in your policy beforehand and to acquire any extra coverage you feel you may need before water damage occurs.

Signs of Mold In Your Vents

If you are worried about black mold in your Telford, TN, commercial building, there are steps you can take to correct the issue. First, you must confirm whether this mold is actually present.

  • Black dust
  • Patchy dust
  • Musty aroma

Since mold is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to get rid of all the mold spores in your building. However, you do need to make sure that any excess mold is eliminated as soon as possible.

Removing Mold

Once you suspect that excess black mold is present on your property, contact an inspector to make sure that your suspicions are correct. You should then get the mold removed quickly so it doesn’t spread even further.

Clean ducts also limit mold growth. You should thus have a professional check out the ducts at least two times a year. The expert should also watch for cracks or leaks and repair them as soon as possible before they attract mold.
By maintaining your air conditioning units, you can limit the amount of black mold in your building. If you do spot a problem, however, local mold remediation specialists can remediate the issue.

Mold growth in Gladstone, TN

How to Control Mold

Mold spores are all around you whether you realize it or not. Mold growth occurs both outdoors and indoors, and even if you take proactive measures to keep your home free of spores, such as repairing water damage, there's a good chance that a few will blow in on a windy day, that spores will attach themselves to your shoes and pant legs or that they'll make their way into your home's HVAC system. For this reason, it's not enough to take measures to prevent spores themselves. You should also take mold prevention measures. You can control mold in a few different ways:

  • Promptly repair water-damaged areas
  • Control humidity levels
  • Thorough dry and clean your home after flooding
  • Ensure that rooms prone to high moisture have proper ventilation

If you take the above measures, you can likely prevent mold from establishing itself in your Gladstone, TN, home.

Cleaning Up Mold When It's Present

If you discover mold growth in your home, you need to do more than just remove the water damage and repair the area. You also need to attack the mold. However, if you discover mold in your drywall, flooring, upholstery or other porous material, contact a mold remediation specialist right away. Mold spreads quickly and easily, and chances are you will not be able to rid your home of the entire problem with a few suds and some bleach.

Identifying Mold Growth

You may be able to identify mold simply by looking at it. However, sometimes mold hides in the walls, carpeting or other concealed areas. In this instance, you may be able to identify the mold by smelling it or by the appearance of your home's structures. For instance, buckling floorboards or sagging drywall may be an indicator of water damage and mold. How To Prevent Mold With Timely Mitigation

Cleaning up after a water loss in a Gladstone,TN building

Water Damage can Become Mold Damage

Having water damage in your commercial property in Gladstone, TN, is bad enough, but if left unchecked, that damage can become a breeding ground for mold. The only way to prevent that from happening is to fix the problem as soon as possible. Water restoration experts help by drying, cleaning and replacing materials that are affected by leaks and high humidity.

1. Dry

The first thing that technicians do to prevent mold growth is to dry out the affected areas. Mold can start to gather in as little as 24 hours from the time the moisture level gets too high. All excess water is siphoned off, and then surfaces must be dried. Technicians use specialized equipment to expedite this process so that mold doesn't have a chance to take hold.

2. Clean

When you have water damage, the area it covers will probably need to be disinfected after it is dry. Even if the leak comes from a pipe, it is likely to pick up contaminants as it soaks through the floor, insulation or ceiling, turning it into Category 2 water. Specialists can test the surfaces for traces of bacteria and other microbes to ensure that the space is left clean.

3. Replace

Ideally, technicians can get to the affected area in time to ensure not only mold prevention but also structure maintenance. Occasionally, however, the damage is too extensive to salvage the flooring, walls or ceiling saturated by the water. When that happens, the portion that had to be removed must be replaced. Then, the tile, paint or other aesthetic elements must be blended so that it matches the surrounding surfaces.

Fixing water damage quickly helps get your building back in order, but it also helps to prevent secondary damage such as mold growth. By calling for professional repair as soon as you notice the problem, you can protect your building from further problems.

3 Tips for Dealing With Partial Loss

11/23/2018 (Permalink)

Fire loss in Austin Springs,TN

How to Determine the Extent of Fire Loss or Smoke Damage

The term “partial loss” is used to describe property damage. Partial losses may require fire restoration or replacement. Total losses call for rebuilding. Here are three tips for determining the extent of fire loss or smoke damage when filing a commercial property insurance claim.

1. Document Damage

Whether you think that a commercial structure may be a partial or total loss, it is important to document all of the damage as soon as possible after a fire. Do not attempt to mitigate the situation before gathering photographic or video evidence of the full extent of the damage.

2. Specify Partial or Total Loss

The term “partial loss” is used to describe a structure that has not suffered a total fire loss. A total loss requires a complete rebuild, whereas a partial loss can benefit from mitigation and restoration. Building materials or contents that can be restored from fire or smoke damage may also be referred to as partial losses. An insurance adjuster will make the ultimate decisions regarding a commercial property claim.

3. Restore or Replace

Commercial insurance should cover the costs of restoring a partial loss or rebuilding a total loss. In either case, it is important to determine whether the policy will provide you with the replacement cost or actual cash value of contents and materials. The replacement cost is the full cost of an item at today's dollar value. The actual cash value factors in depreciation and other factors and may not be sufficient to replace the loss.

These tips should help you understand the difference between a partial and total fire loss. Property owners should allow adjusters and fire restoration specialists to determine the accurate categorization for the purposes of filing an insurance claim. No matter how extensive a partial loss may be, you can depend on a fire damage mitigation service located in Austin Springs,TN.

Top 4 Causes of Sewer Backups

11/18/2018 (Permalink)

Clogged pipe in an Austin Springs,TN home

Common Causes Of Sewage Backup

Most residents of Austin Springs, TN, probably take the community’s sewer system for granted. However, it’s a critical component of the municipal infrastructure that can malfunction and cause significant problems for homeowners, such as a flooded basement. Understanding four common causes of sewage backups can help you minimize your risk and possibly spare you a messy cleanup.

1. Tree Root Infiltration

Tree roots can infiltrate pipes and cause a backing up of sewage into your home. To help reduce the likelihood of this dilemma, you should identify the location of sewer lines before planting any trees and shrubs. Keeping vegetation a safe distance from pipes may prevent root infiltration and the need for a line cleaning.

2. A System Overwhelmed by Storm Water

In many communities, storm water channels and sewage lines converge. If a significant storm dumps an excessive amount of rain, the system may become overwhelmed, causing a backing up of waste water. If your home is not equipped with a back-flow valve or other control device, the situation may cause a flooded basement.

3. Clogged Pipes

Clogged pipes are another serious issue that can result in a sewage backup. Items such as paper towels, feminine napkins, diapers and wipes should never be flushed down the toilet. Placing these products into the trash helps minimize the risk of potentially devastating clogs.

4. Damaged Pipes

Like many other components of a community’s infrastructure, sewer lines can deteriorate over time. Symptoms of a potential problem include consistently slow drains and a lingering sewage gas odor. If you have concerns about your home’s plumbing, you should promptly contact a licensed plumber who can properly evaluate your system, as well as diagnose and address any existing issues.

Sewage backing up that results in a flooded basement is an experience all homeowners hope to avoid. Although every home is potentially susceptible to this extremely messy dilemma, understanding common causes can help you take proactive measures to minimize risks and possibly avoid extensive cleanup and restoration endeavors.

Understanding Water Categorization

9/18/2018 (Permalink)

Flood water presents a serious risk to people, and when it reaches category three, black water, it should be avoided.

As a property owner in the Johnson City, TN, you may have to deal with several water issues. While a toilet overflow is a simple issue to deal with, in this area you’ll probably have to deal with problems involving flood water. Flooding can cause not only significant property damage, but it also poses a potential health risk as well, and being a property owner in this area you should become familiar with the different levels of water classification.

1. Sanitary Water

Category one water is considered sanitary water. This water is the safest water to drink, cook with, and bathe with. Sanitary water is also commonly referred to as clear water, which is a reference to its appearance and an indicator that it is clean, meaning that it has not been contaminated by other sources.

2. Gray Water

Gray Water, category two, is not sanitary and can pose a risk of illness if you come into contact or consume this water. Typically, this water occurs in the event of appliance or toilet overflow, which means that it is contaminated by chemicals and sewage.

3. Black Water

Black water, category three, is the most dangerous of all waters and is likely the result of flood water. This water is formed by a mixture of rising rivers and overflowing sewers. With the high level of contaminants in this water, it is also toxic to humans and animals, causing illness and potential fatality if ingested. If you’re building is submerged in black water, it is best to avoid it and allow professionals to do the final cleanup process.

Flood water presents a serious risk to people, and when it reaches category three, black water, it should be avoided. As a business owner, you should be aware of the various levels of water categorization to ensure both your safety and the safety of your tenants.
